I live in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales and I am a mum to three kids, James, Amber and Meghan. Becoming a parent was the single most important moment of my life, although I didn’t realise it at the time – I was far too afraid.
I came to hypnobirthing in my second pregnancy. I hadn’t had the best birth experience first time and decided I had to do something to change that. I borrowed a book from the library about hypnobirthing at 39 weeks pregnant! Its fair to say I never finished that book, but what I did read gave me perspective, taught me to trust myself and my body.
My second birth was incredible. Yes, I really, truly mean that. In fact, I was so amazed by what I had achieved, I stayed awake the whole night just looking at my daughter in total wonder and feeling so flipping proud of myself. She slept the whole night (she was born at 8pm), its fair to say I did somewhat regret the decision to stare at her all night because the next night she didn’t sleep at all!
Going into my third pregnancy I thought, well if a few chapters of a book can do that, what could a whole course do? So I found a course with a local instructor and it was amazing.
I had been told time and time again I could never have a water birth because my first baby was born by cesarean. Wrong! With the right midwife and the right belief, my second daughter (3rd baby) was born in the water.
I decided to become a hypnobirthing teacher because I truly believe that every woman can have a birth experience that makes them feel empowered. I want you to understand your choices, feel confident in your birth choices and (believe it or not) enjoy your birth experience!
