Hypnobirthing is a mix of the science of labour and birth, breathing techniques and building confidence and belief in yourself.
Read the birth story of my amazing client Daisy and how hypnobirthing helped her achieve a wonderful birth with her first baby.
“I attended Charlotte’s hypnobirthing sessions, right up until I was admitted to hospital prior to giving birth.
My pregnancy went really well until I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia, and following this I was induced at 37 weeks, prior to giving birth.
This was my first child, so I took all the advice I could get. Charlotte provided loads of hints and tricks in terms of making the environment as pleasant and comfortable as possible – I did exactly that. I created a playlist, printed some photos and positive quotes which were swiftly stuck on the walls, and the room even had mood lighting – sorted!
As my labour really got going, I was determined to use the breathing techniques we learned during the sessions. I was breathing through my ‘surges’ and had the tens machine on my back. This, along with the breathing techniques, was all I needed until the end of the labour, when I gave in to gas and air.
I won’t ever say that labour was easy, it wasn’t. It was a challenging 9 hours from start to finish with plenty of pushing and listening to great advice from the midwives. I’m absolutely certain, though, that the techniques Charlotte taught me made the experience much more personal, and a lot more comfortable than if I’d have gone into the experience relatively blind.
Our daughter is now a year old and she’s growing up fast, but my husband and I will be forever grateful for the help and support we received from Charlotte before she was born”.
